American Museum Of Natural History Coordinator, Youth Initiatives The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition. The Education department is seeking a full-time Coordinator, Youth Initiatives (YI). The Coordinator is directly responsible for day-to-day operations of the Lang Science Scholars program (7th to 12th grade) and the department's science enrichment program, the Science Alliance program (6th to 8th grade). Both programs serve a diverse community of learners, including students whose families are non-English-speaking. The YI group, a division of the Museum's Education division, is dedicated to STEM workforce development and science enrichment for youth ages 10 to 24. In YI, we aspire to be a hub and model for youth science learning and engagement that promotes full participation in science by all young people. The Coordinator reports to the Manager of Youth Initiatives and works closely with the educator team (4 full-time teachers, 5-7 part-time teachers and 8-12 TAs). The Coordinator can anticipate a Tuesday-Saturday work week, with peak programming in the summer. The Coordinator should expect to commit to an 11am-7pm schedule at least 3 workdays/week. Job duties include: Ticketing, enrollment, rosters and admissions: Handle ticket sales and generate ticketing reports for paid programming. Participate in the Lang admissions process. Evaluate applications and conduct interviews. Manage enrollment, onboarding and exiting. Develop and distribute welcome and enrollment packets, create rosters, prepare attendance and prepare completion data for pipeline database. Managing materials and class logistics: Gather materials, print-outs and computers for class and special events. Work with Operations to book halls, A/V needs and food orders. Manage and organize supplies. Communicate with educators to coordinate material needs. Coordinate with Operations on ordering. Direct part-time TAs to assist in managing materials and student needs. Day-of coordination: Supervise pick-up and drop-off. Be on call for all emergencies. Track, document and respond to issues of student behavior or chronic absence. Alert the Manager to student behavior issues that impact student safety, well-being and experience. Monitor student engagement, experience, behavior and growth. Participate in and co-lead community building activities with youth. Advise on and realize one-day events, such as SciChat, Community Nights and Graduation. Communication: Act as a first line of contact and response for students, families and teachers. Regularly monitor email accounts. Work with educators to communicate expectations and norms. The expected salary for the Coordinator, Youth Initiatives is $50,000/annual - $57,000/annual. This position is overtime-eligible and the AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community. Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience. Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching in informal settings. Experience in a fieldwork or laboratory setting. Fluent in Spanish (written/oral).
