Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in New York, NY. This is a Contract-to-Permanent position within the entertainment industry, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to payroll operations for a theater company. The ideal candidate will excel in managing complex payroll tasks, including union and multi-state payrolls, while leveraging their expertise in Workday and advanced Excel functions.

Responsibilities:

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payrolls with accuracy and timeliness.

• Handle union payroll operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and agreements.

• Manage multi-state payroll processing to accommodate diverse employee locations.

• Utilize Workday software to execute payroll functions efficiently.

• Review and verify employee timesheets for completeness and accuracy.

• Administer garnishments and other payroll deductions in accordance with legal requirements.

• Collaborate with internal teams to address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies.

• Generate reports and analyze payroll data using advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll laws and best practices to ensure compliance. Requirements

• Proven experience in processing weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payrolls.

• Expertise in managing union payroll and multi-state payroll operations.

• Proficiency in Workday payroll software.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.

• Strong ability to review and validate employee timesheets.

• Knowledge of payroll garnishments and deductions.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
