Position: Adjunct Instructor ? GPH-GU 2225 Psychometric Measurement and Analysis in Public Health Research and Practice (Graduate) Department: NYU School of Global Public Health - Biostatistics Supervisor: Dr. Rebecca Betensky Employment Dates: September 3, 2025 - December 10, 2025 This course will cover the principles of psychometric measurement as applied to public health research and practice, including the technical interpretation of survey results using generalizability theory. The content of the course will include individual measures of constructs and behaviors commonly assessed in public health research and practice. Following a literature review, students will design their own survey instruments and use them to collect data from anonymous online survey respondents. Students will examine and deconstruct principles and techniques used in psychometric studies to establish levels of reliability and validity and will utilize statistical software to conduct analyses. The course runs from September 3 to December 10 and meets Wednesdays from 11:00am to 1:40pm . Compensation depends on level of experience. Qualified applicants will have an advanced degree in statistics or a related field (PhD preferred). Previous experience teaching introductory statistics is preferred.
