Overview
As a Staff Software Engineer, GenAI & Applied Innovation , you will be the senior hands‑on engineer in a cross‑functional Alpha Labs team. Your mandate: turn cutting‑edge generative‑AI research and data‑science insights into live demonstrations that differentiates Publicis in competitive pitches and large‑scale client engagements. You will architect and build cloud‑native services, GenAI–powered prototypes and intelligent APIs, then collaborate with data scientists, audience strategists, creatives and media technologists to embed those solutions across the connected consumer journey.
Responsibilities
1. Core Engineering & GenAI
Design, build and own backend services, microservices and cloud functions (AWS, Azure, Databricks) that power GenAI and data science workflows.
Integrate and experiment with GenAI APIs (OpenAI, Claude, proprietary LLMs) and agent/tool frameworks; implement retrieval augmented generation and vector database pipelines where useful.
Develop occasional cross platform front ends (React, Next.js, Flutter) to showcase prototypes and MVPs .
2. Product & Innovation
Rapid prototype novel audience intelligence or ad tech concepts for new business pitches; evolve proofs of concept into scalable products.
Collaborate with data scientists to operationalize predictive segmentation, targeting and measurement models.
Embed observability, monitoring and automated CI/CD so experiments can harden into production quickly.
3. Enablement & Leadership
Act as the technical lead within the squad: set coding standards, review PRs and mentor engineers.
Translate complex AI/ML ideas into clear narratives for creative, media and C suite audiences.
Contribute to hackathons, design thinking sprints and CoreAI product road mapping initiatives.
Qualifications
6+ years professional software‑engineering experience (or 4+ years with a relevant advanced degree).
Expert‑level Python plus proficiency in at least one additional modern language (TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Go, Dart, etc.).
Hands‑on experience calling or fine‑tuning GenAI/LLM APIs (e.g., GPT‑4o, Claude, Gemini) and integrating them into user‑facing or service‑layer applications.
Working knowledge of front‑end or mobile frameworks (React, Next.js, Flutter, etc.).
Prior work with AI‑agent orchestration, vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, PGVector) or LangChain/LlamaIndex.
Experience deploying models or apps in Databricks and using MLflow or similar MLOps tooling.
Familiarity with marketing‑tech or ad‑tech domains, including identity graphs, segmentation and measurement.
Thrives in fast‑moving, ambiguous environments; balances strategic vision with hands‑on execution.

Compensation Range: $87,210 - $137,195 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
