Job: Lab Technician -Donegan Lab (Chemistry) Job Summary: The part-time Lab Technician will assist with lab management and conduct research in the areas of microbiology and biochemistry. The Lab Technician will report to the PI. This is a part-time grant-funded term position. Job Description: The Lab Technician will participate in a research project in the area of microbial heme biochemistry, under supervision of the PI and in collaboration with the PI and undergraduate researchers. The Lab Technician will perform lab management jobs including: organizing and maintaining reagents and databases, handling basic purchasing and bookkeeping, and preparing visual aids for professional presentations, publications, or grant proposals. Techniques used in this lab include, bacteria and yeast cell culture, recombinant protein expression, protein purification, biochemical assays, and fluorescence microscopy. They will perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed. Skills, Qualifications & Requirements: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: An interest in learning new research techniques. Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or biology. Preferred Qualifications: Research laboratory experience with standard molecular biology techniques is preferred but not required.
