Staff Accountant- NYC Hybrid- Law Firm
Premier law firm seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to be a member of the accounting team.
Essential Job Functions:
• Assist the COO, Accounting Manager and Management on various survey and audit requirements and various quarterly and year-end reporting.
• Coordinates with HR/Payroll on state unemployment and related taxation requirements.
• Assist in payroll processing, payroll inquiries, payroll reports.
• Assists in maintaining, analyzing, and updating general ledger entries.
• Assists in posting transactions for general ledger and for client billing.
• Reconciles monthly bank statements timely and accurately.
• Reconciles with trust accounting and compliance requirements.
• Performs investigations and resolves issues related to reconciliations, general bookkeeping, financial analysis, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Assists with collections and collection resolutions, related payroll and/or general ledger.
• Assists in preparation of month-end and year-end closings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Microsoft Office Suite experience with advanced MS Excel skills including Charts, VLOOKUPs, Sumifs and pivot tables and Adobe Acrobat.
Familiarity with client data base software and reporting requirements is a plus.
• Experience in Aderant or 3E
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance. Additional relevant certifications are a plus.
• Working knowledge of payroll principals, taxation and processes is preferred.
• Must have 3-5 years as a Staff Accountant in a medium to large law firm (50+ lawyers, a plus) or a professional services environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
Position is non-exempt, regular, and full-time with compensation based on education, years of relevant experience and the marketplace. Work schedule is 9:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday; additional hours beyond the normal workday are required as needed. In-office attendance policy is one day weekly (Thursdays). The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000, and includes a comprehensive benefits package, plus 13-paid Federal holidays and bonus eligible.
