A School Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school. This role requires adherence to safety protocols, effective communication with students and staff, and a commitment to maintaining a positive and secure environment on the bus.
Key Responsibilities -Safe Transportation: Operate a school bus over assigned routes, ensuring students are transported safely to and from school and events. -Pre-Trip Inspections: Conduct daily inspections of the bus to ensure it is in proper working condition, checking elements like brakes, lights, and tires. -Student Safety: Assist students in boarding and disembarking the bus safely, ensuring they follow safety protocols. -Behavior Management: Monitor and manage student behavior on the bus, reporting any issues to school officials as necessary. -Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student counts, mileage, and any incidents or delays. -Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with school staff, parents, and students, addressing concerns and providing updates as needed. -Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure the bus is clean and well-maintained, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
Qualifications -Education: High school diploma or equivalent. -Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL A,B,C) with appropriate endorsements. (P/S) -NYS CDL Permit Holders Are Welcome To Enroll Into Our Training Program To Assist You In Obtaining The License Needed. -Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required) -School bus driving: 1 year (Preferred) -Experience: Previous experience driving large vehicles preferred; experience working with children is a plus. -Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage student behavior effectively. -Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and assist students as needed; good vision and hearing.
Working Conditions -Schedule: Typically follows the school calendar may require early morning and afternoon hours. -Environment: Work is primarily performed on the bus; it may involve exposure to varying weather conditions. -Compensation: Hourly wage, with potential for benefits depending on the employer.
