Agency Description:

The NYC Department Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) promotes quality and affordability in the city's housing, and diversity and strength in the city’s neighborhoods because every New Yorker deserves a safe, affordable place to live in a neighborhood they love.

HPD is entrusted with fulfilling these objectives through the goals and strategies of Housing Our Neighbors: A Blueprint for Housing and Homelessness, Mayor Adams’ comprehensive housing framework. To support this important work, the administration has committed $5 billion in new capital funding, bringing the 10-year planned investment in housing to $22 billion the largest in the city’s history. This investment, coupled with a commitment to reduce administrative and regulatory barriers, is a multi-pronged strategy to tackle New York City’s complex housing crisis, by addressing homelessness and housing instability, promoting economic stability and mobility, increasing homeownership opportunities, improving health and safety, and increasing opportunities for equitable growth.

Your Team:

The Office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services (OENS) leads the agency’s effort to work closely with other HPD divisions and outside community partners to identify buildings in distress, assess and develop appropriate strategies to address those properties and work closely with responsible owners to develop a plan to improve conditions and return buildings to firm financial footing and physical health. OENS uses enforcement tools within its Division of Code Enforcement, Housing Litigation Division, Emergency Operations and Enhanced Enforcement, and the Division of Neighborhood Preservation to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.

The Office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services is composed of seven divisions: Data Management & Technology (DMT), Division of Neighborhood Preservation (DNP), Administration & Internal Compliance (AIC), Housing Litigation Division (HLD), Division of Code Enforcement (DCE), and Emergency Operations and Enhanced Enforcement Division (EOD) and Division of Emergency Housing Services (EHS).

Your Impact:

Under direct supervision in the Division of Administration and Internal Compliance (AIC) in the Office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services (OENS), the division would like to hire a Facilities Coordinator/Community Coordinator.

Your Role:

As a Facilities Coordinator/Community Coordinator for the Division of Administration and Internal Compliance (AIC), you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assist unit supervisor with managing ENS fleet of vehicles assigned to CD program units;

  • Monitor and track the mileage usage for the fleet of lead-funded vehicles and managing all aspects of vehicle responsibilities; including timeliness of vehicle inspections, registrations, routine maintenance, and required utilization;

  • Ensure prompt response to all written enquires regarding all accidents and incident report related to vehicle usage activity;

  • Assist in transport and retrieval of vehicles as directed by Unit supervisor;

  • Track, process, distribute and collect Department of Transportation permits for field staff in the ENS Lead Offices;

  • Conduct research related to moving and/or parking violations with the Department of Motor Vehicles and Department of Finance; review EZ pass usage and invoices;

  • Assist with monitoring and tracking the distribution of Metro cards for both central and field CD funded personnel;

  • Assist the Facilities Unit supervisor with handling the office’s space needs and relocation of the various OENS CD units; attending meetings to discuss space needs and assisting with the completion of documentations, clarifying issues and resolving problems;

  • Troubleshoot relinquishment of furniture, equipment, and other agency resources to ensure that old and/or un-needed items are discarded and/or removed safely and timely basis; Assist Unit supervisor with monitoring the Office’s supplies and inventory;

  • Assist with loading and unloading of supplies; distribute and pick up mail and other supplies from and to the office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services (OENS) various CD funded units across the five boroughs, ensuring timely and efficient service;

  • Pick up orders from OENS vendors as required; assist with the distribution of uniforms and other equipment; maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and vehicle usage;

  • Occasionally undertake special driving assignments for upper management including driving staff to and from meetings ensuring a high level of professionalism and confidentiality;

  • Maintain various records, prepare and submit accurate reports and perform special projects as necessary.

Preferred skills:

  • Computer Proficient, strong excel.

  • Able to provide exceptional customer service in every interaction, representing the agency positively.

  • Ability to lift and carry items as needed up to 20 lbs.

  • Candidate must possess a valid and clean NYS driver’s license.

COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

  2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

  3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
