Job Description
AHRC NYC is looking to hire a Social Worker LMSW for their Queens Train and Earn Career Pathways Program with the NY City Department of Youth and Community Development.
Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year plus a very generous and comprehensive Benefit Package...see Benefit information below.
Please note that we are willing to accept candidates who have completed LSW course and HAVE SCHEDULED EXAM but have not taken exam yet.
Scope of Position:
Train & Earn is a career pathways program funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) that provides comprehensive job training and employment services, along with support services needed by participants to find a permanent job, obtain their high school equivalency if applicable, and access postsecondary education and training. Train & Earn is for youth and young adults aged 16–24, who are not working and not in school, and meet certain eligibility requirements. The Social Worker will support the Train & Earn program with participant recruitment and program retention.
Essential Responsibilities
- Conducts evaluations to further develop understanding of significant emotional and social factors underlying person’s adjustment difficulties
- Engages individuals in individual and/or group treatment as needed
- Provides services planned to restore person to optimum social and health adjustment within his/her capacity
- Coordinates psychological care and behavioral programs with families or residential settings, or other relevant stakeholders
- Interprets psychological behavioral problems and test findings to direct care staff and provides in-service training in areas such as behavior modifications
- Participates in planning for services by interpreting social factors pertinent to development of service plan
- Acts as Treatment Coordinator for persons so referred
- Conducts assessments of individuals referred to program to see if they are appropriate or refer them to appropriate programs
- Evaluates person's barriers to employment and plans for services to reduce or remove those barriers
- Assesses natural supports and stays in contact to help person's adjustment to program and work
- Assesses benefits’ needs of the person and helps access these benefits
- Coordinates curriculum to ensure maximum impact on person's learning and ability to obtain employment
- Helps evaluate person's employment readiness and compatibility with job opportunities
- Documents findings according to established protocol. Submit reports on a number or unduplicated behavioral health consultations, screenings, assessments and brief treatment encounters provided. Keep all records and information confidential
- Assists in program recruitment and social development according to program needs and requirements
- Provides ongoing periodic evaluation conferencing and consultation to reexamine and ensure appropriateness of decision and service plan
- Performs all duties necessary for compliance with relevant regulations governing service provision, including record keeping
- Deals with persons supported in a legal and ethical manner
- Conducts other related tasks as needed or required
Required Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work
- Work experience with people with developmental disabilities highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent skills in using MS Office applications as well as agency-specific database systems.
- Proven capacity to work productively in highly collaborative settings and to coordinate needs of multiple stakeholders.
- Flexibility to operate in a rapidly-changing work environment, with ability to adapt and be sensitive to organizational culture.
- Bilingual language skills highly desirable.
- Demonstrable passion for the agency’s mission.
