Associate Attorney – Employment Law – New York

About the Role:
The firm is seeking a Midlevel Associate (4–7 years’ experience) to join its Employment Law practice group. This hybrid role (three days in-office per week) is based in Manhattan and will focus on representing and advising employer clients on a broad spectrum of employment law matters, including litigation, compliance counseling, and risk mitigation.
What You’ll Do:
- Represent employers in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and mediations on claims including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour violations, and other employment-related disputes
- Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions, in state and federal venues
- Prepare and respond to pleadings and discovery requests; take and defend depositions as first-chair or supporting lead counsel
- Conduct witness interviews and fact investigations in preparation for litigation and administrative proceedings
- Draft position statements and responses to administrative charges before state and federal agencies
- Advise clients on a wide range of employment law issues, including paid sick leave, discrimination and retaliation policies, wage and hour compliance, and the impact of new technologies like AI in HR processes
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, non-compete and restrictive covenant agreements, and severance agreements
- Assist on special projects and assignments as they arise
What We’re Looking For:
- 4–7 years of employment litigation and counseling experience at a law firm or in-house legal team
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active admission to practice in New York
- Proven expertise in handling all phases of employment disputes
- Strong drafting, research, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage a busy docket and work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
- Experience advising clients on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
