Job Classification: Exempt, full-time, 40 hours per week



Salary Range: $80,000.00-$85,000.00

JOB PURPOSE





+ The Director of the Educational Alliance Art School oversees the growth of the historic Educational Alliance Art School founded in 1917. The Director is an integral position at Manny Cantor Center and across Educational Alliance to grow the expanding community-based Art School to best serve community members on the Lower East Side.





SCOPE OF INFLUENCE





+ Partners with internal members and staff and external customers and partner organizations



+ Supervises Art School faculty and staff



+ Collaborates with Educational Alliance and Manny Cantor Center staff and works with marketing, evaluation, development, operations and program teams





KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES



Program Management and Development (40%)- 16 hours



The Director is responsible for all aspects of:





+ Tuition-based programs: Develop courses, schedules, tuition, policies, standards of pedagogy, Open Studios, etc. to meet annual goals.



+ Agency-sponsored programs: Partner with Edgies’ Teen Center, Early Childhood Education, and Weinberg Center for Balanced Life to develop art programs for members and families.



+ Partnership programs: Maintain existing community partnerships and arts memberships to support expansion and community visibility.



+ Scholarship Program: Manage all aspects of EA Art School Scholarship program and track awards, expenses and participation.



+ New Program Development: Develop Teaching Assistant Program, Artist in Residency Program and Curatorial Fellowship Program based on previous pilot programs.



+ Financial Management: Develop annual budgets, monitor expenses, approve invoices from consultants, manage petty cash, submit credit card reports and approve timecards for staff.



+ Evaluation: Plan and implement evaluations to ensure continuous improvement.



+ Registration: Prepare course and tuition information, monitor registrations, reply to student inquiries, ensure complete registrations, approve transfers, credits and refunds for 200-300 students per term.



+ Art Exhibitions: Create annual exhibitions’ schedule and manage curatorial fellow and consultants to plan, install and take down exhibitions in the MCC lobby and Rubenstein Gallery. Oversee the completion of the permanent gallery in the Art School.





People Management and Development- (35%)- 14 hours



Hire, supervise, manage and support the following staff member and volunteers to ensure high-quality arts programs and professional development:





+ Program Manager



+ Program and Studio Manager (manages up to 15 volunteers per year)



+ Part-time Faculty Members (10 - 15 per year)



+ Artists in Residency (Apprentices)



+ Teaching Assistant



+ Curatorial Fellow





Cross-Functional Teams- (20%)- 8 hours



Work across teams at Educational Alliance and Manny Cantor Center to achieve program goals:





+ Development: Work with team to identify potential funders and individuals as well as manage and report on current grants.



+ Office of Strategic Service & Civic Engagement: Work collaboratively with team to secure volunteers to support program and operation goals.



+ Marketing and Communications: Develop content and manage projects with marketing department for all art school programs including social media, website and print materials.



+ Research and Evaluation: Work with Research and Evaluation on developing evaluation projects to ensure continuous improvement. Track program data including revenue, enrollment, number of courses, etc.



+ Finance: Collaborate with Vendor Management, Financial Analyst, and Associate Director to meet financial goals and lead expansion planning for Art School.



+ Human Resources: Ensure successful hiring and onboarding processes for all open positions. Write job descriptions, interview candidates, complete all new hire paperwork and draft offer letters.



+ Operations: Work closely with Facilities and Security Teams to ensure cleanliness, organization and safety in the studios and across all programs.



+ Billing and Enrollment: Collaborate with the Billing and Enrollment team to ensure a successful registration process for each quarterly term. Support the development of new registration options when necessary.





Other (5%)- 2 hours





+ Support planning and delivery of Art School faculty meetings each quarterly term.



+ Meet 1:1 with supervisor and attend trainings and meetings as needed.



+ Perform other duties as assigned.





JOB REQUIREMENTS



Minimum Qualifications





+ Bachelor of Arts degree, preferably Master of Arts degree in arts, education, or arts education



+ 4 years’ experience working in a supervisory role of a similar sized program



+ Experience teaching and supervision preferred



+ Innovative, passionate, and excited to work in a community-based art school



+ Strong organizational, writing and communication skills; attention to detail, reflective demeanor



+ Proactive, problem-solver and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment



+ Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students and colleagues



+ Demonstrated connections to the larger NYC arts community



+ Ability to work some evenings and weekends
