Director, Clinical Services, Bereavement

Under the direction of the Vice President of Patient and Family Experience the director plans, coordinates and directs the Calvary Hospital Center for Bereavement Services, including community services and Calvary at Home

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Is responsible for the development of policies and procedures for Bereavement Services.

2. Develops and presents Annual 10 Week course on Bereavement and Grief Related Issues

to persons in the helping professions.

3. Develops the annual Mentors Through Mourning training for school administrators,

social workers, guidance counselors and other clinicians on children/teenage grief reactions.

4. Promotes education and support by participating as a presenter in workshops, conferences, and in-service training sessions.

5. Explores issues and new directions for the coordination of all Bereavement programming throughout the organization:

• Keeps informed regarding trends, needs, and research in the field of Bereavement
• Coordinates Calvary Camp Compass®, bereavement summer camp for children and adolescents
• Makes suggestions and recommendation for expansion of the program;
• Prepares and recommends operating budget for the program, costs, and expenditures.
• Collaboration with Hospice Program personnel to ensure full compliance with Hospice regulations.
• Assesses and provides follow-up home visits for hospice families thought to be at risk for complicated grief.

6. Counsels bereaved individuals and/or families and friends and staff of deceased Calvary

patients as appropriate.

Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree and Clinical license in Social Work (LCSW) required.
2. Leadership and organizational abilities, excellent communication skills.
3. Minimum of 3-4 years Management experience.
4. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in bereavement.
5. Senior level management experience required.
6. Exhibits an ability and attitude relative to the spirit of caring and tradition at Calvary
7. Hospital as required by specific job duties and functions.
