The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryWe are seeking a Technician B to provide general research support in translational research on the human microbiome, drug resistance and pathogenesis of bacterial infections.Responsibilities- Conduct experiments, analyze results and maintain scientific records.- Carry out standard procedures for protocols- Perform microbiological and molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA isolation, RT-PCR, library preparations, and whole genome sequencing under supervision.- Maintain laboratory equipment, comply with laboratory safety regulations, and provide quality control.- Performs other related duties necessary to the functioning of the laboratory and its research projects.Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experiencePreferred Qualifications- Prior research experienceOther Requirements- The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made- Participation in medical surveillance program- Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure- Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirementsEqual Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Columbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
